PM Shehbaz Expresses Concern as Missile Interception Injures Pakistanis at UAE’s Khor Fakkan Port

PM Shehbaz Voices Concern After Missile Interception Injures Pakistanis in UAE

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed deep concern over an incident at Khor Fakkan Port in the United Arab Emirates, where debris from a missile interception injured several civilians, including Pakistani nationals.

In a statement shared on X, the premier said he was “deeply concerned” about the incident and extended prayers for the swift recovery of those injured. He added that Pakistan remains in close contact with UAE authorities to provide all necessary assistance to affected citizens.

The incident occurred amid escalating regional tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran and the US-Israel alliance. Gulf countries, including the UAE, have increasingly faced spillover risks from missile interceptions carried out by air defence systems.

According to the Sharjah Media Office, a fire broke out at the port after falling debris from a missile interception struck the area. Emergency response teams quickly brought the blaze under control, and cooling operations are ongoing.

Officials confirmed that three Pakistani nationals sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate, while a Nepalese national suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

Authorities have assured that the situation is under control, but the incident highlights the growing risks to civilians in the region as geopolitical tensions escalate.

Prime Minister Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of the UAE and stressed the urgent need for restraint and de-escalation to prevent further harm to innocent civilians.

Reports indicate that four Pakistani nationals have lost their lives in the UAE in recent days due to falling debris from missile interceptions, underscoring the dangers posed by the widening conflict.

As tensions continue to rise, the safety of expatriates in Gulf countries remains a key concern for Islamabad, with authorities closely monitoring developments and coordinating with regional partners.
