Trump Threatens 50% Tariffs on Countries Supplying Weapons to Iran

Trump Announces 50% Tariffs on Countries Supplying Weapons to Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to impose a 50% tariff on all goods imported from countries supplying military weapons to Iran. The announcement, made on Truth Social, stated that the tariffs would take effect immediately, with no exceptions or exemptions.

Trump wrote, “A Country supplying Military Weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed, on any and all goods sold to the United States of America, 50%, effective immediately. There will be no exclusions or exemptions!”

The move coincides with ongoing discussions following a recent U.S.-Iran ceasefire agreement. Trump indicated that the United States would “work closely” with Iranian authorities and emphasized that there would be no uranium enrichment as part of the ceasefire framework. He also claimed that several points in the 15-point U.S. peace proposals have already been agreed upon.

In addition to the tariff announcement, Trump said the U.S. and Iran will continue discussions on sanctions relief, signaling a complex balance between trade measures and diplomatic engagement.

The tariff threat is expected to have wide-ranging economic implications for countries exporting goods to the U.S., particularly those with defense-related ties to Iran, and could complicate international relations amid the recent ceasefire.
