9 Killed in Second School Shooting in Two Days in Turkey

At least nine people, including eight students and one teacher, were killed in a school shooting in Kahramanmaras, southern Turkey, officials confirmed.

According to Interior Minister Mustafa Cifci, the attack took place at Ayser Calik Secondary School, where the gunman opened fire inside classrooms, causing panic and chaos.

Local governor Mukerren Unluer stated that the attacker was also killed during the incident. Reports suggest the suspect was a teenager who entered the school armed with multiple weapons.

The shooting comes just a day after another incident in southern Turkey, where a former student injured 16 people in a high school attack before taking his own life.

Authorities said 13 people were injured in the latest attack, with at least six in critical condition. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and an investigation is currently underway.

Media reports indicate that the weapons used in the attack allegedly belonged to the suspect’s father, a former police officer, who has since been detained.

Eyewitness footage showed students jumping from windows and fleeing the school building as gunfire erupted. Parents later gathered outside the school in distress, seeking information about their children.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his condolences and wished a speedy recovery to the injured in a statement.
