Christina Applegate Speaks Out Following Reported Hospitalization Amid MS Battle
Emmy-winning actress Christina Applegate has addressed recent reports of her hospitalization, offering a candid update on her ongoing health challenges.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, April 20, Applegate thanked fans for their support while acknowledging the reality of living with multiple sclerosis (MS). “Thank you for the outpouring of love and well-wishes,” she wrote. “Health issues are a constant for me, but I’m a strong chick and I’m getting stronger and better every day.”
The actress shared a glimpse of her current routine, posting a photo from her backyard patio alongside a copy of her book and a coffee mug, adding that she is taking time to focus on her well-being. “I’m taking a moment to focus on my health, but I’ll be back with more to say soon enough,” she said.
Reports of Applegate’s hospitalization first surfaced on April 16, with claims that she had been admitted in late March. However, it remains unclear whether the reported hospitalization was directly related to her MS diagnosis. A spokesperson declined to provide details regarding her medical condition or treatment.

Applegate has long been open about her health journey. She publicly revealed her MS diagnosis in August 2021, describing it as a “strange journey” while emphasizing the importance of support from others facing the same condition. According to the Mayo Clinic, MS is a chronic disease that affects the central nervous system, leading to symptoms such as numbness, mobility issues and fatigue.
In recent years, the actress has stepped back from on-screen roles, choosing instead to share her experiences through her podcast “MeSsy,” which she cohosts with Jamie Lynn Sigler — who has also been living with MS since 2002. The podcast recently announced a short break as both hosts focus on their respective book releases.
Applegate, known for her roles in projects like Anchorman and Married… With Children, has also spoken openly about the emotional impact of her condition. In a recent interview, she acknowledged the uncertainty that comes with living with a chronic illness, noting that it has reshaped her outlook on life and the future.
Despite the challenges, Applegate continues to maintain a resilient outlook, expressing gratitude for the support she receives from family, friends and fans around the world.
