Russian Man Jailed After Barron Trump Alerts UK Police to Assault During Video Call

UK Court Sentences Russian Man After Assault Reported by Barron Trump

A British court has sentenced 22-year-old Russian national Matvei Rumiantsev to four years in prison for assault and perverting the course of justice, following an incident that was reported after Barron Trump witnessed the attack during a video call.

The assault occurred in London in January last year. According to court proceedings at Snaresbrook Crown Court, Barron Trump, 20, observed the attack on his friend while calling her from the United States and immediately contacted UK emergency services, ensuring prompt intervention.

Judge Joel Bennathan noted during sentencing that Rumiantsev had filmed the attack in an act of humiliation. The victim suffered bruising to her chin, arm, and wrist, scratches, and hair loss due to the assault.

Rumiantsev had been dating the victim intermittently for several months. He was found guilty of assault and perverting the course of justice in January but was acquitted of rape and intentional strangulation. He received two-year sentences for each conviction, which will run consecutively, totaling four years.

The case highlights the role of timely reporting and international cooperation in addressing violent crimes, with Barron Trump’s responsible action from abroad ensuring the perpetrator faced justice.
