Florida Moves to Rename Palm Beach Airport After Donald Trump

Florida Signs Bill to Rename Palm Beach International Airport After Donald Trump

Ron DeSantis has signed a bill to rename Palm Beach International Airport in honor of Donald Trump, marking a significant political gesture in the state.

Under the legislation, the airport — frequently used by Trump when traveling to his Mar-a-Lago residence — will be officially renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport.

The bill, which was passed by both the Florida House and Senate earlier this year, includes provisions for renaming the airport as part of broader legislation related to commercial service airports. The change is set to take effect on July 1, pending administrative processes.

According to officials, while the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) does not directly approve airport name changes, it must complete technical updates such as revising navigational charts and aviation databases.

The renaming effort reflects ongoing political support for Trump in Florida, where he maintains a strong presence and regularly travels to his residence in Palm Beach.

Supporters view the move as a tribute to Trump’s influence and leadership, while critics argue it reflects growing politicization of public infrastructure.

The decision is expected to draw national attention as discussions continue over the role of political legacy in naming public landmarks.
