Two Bank Employees Shot Dead in Kentucky Robbery

A tragic bank robbery in Berea has left two employees dead, prompting an urgent manhunt for a masked suspect, according to Kentucky State Police.

The incident took place on Thursday afternoon at a U.S. Bank branch located on Chestnut Street.
Authorities say the suspect entered the bank around 2 p.m. local time and opened fire, killing two
employees before fleeing the scene.

During a press briefing, State Police Trooper Scottie Pennington confirmed the details and acknowledged growing fear among local residents. He stated that both the community and law enforcement are deeply concerned as the suspect remains at large.

The gunman has been described as approximately 6 feet 3 inches tall, wearing a light-colored hoodie, dark gloves, gray pants, and light-colored athletic shoes. Officials have not confirmed whether any money or
valuables were taken during the robbery, and it remains unclear if the suspect escaped on foot or used a vehicle.

Police have advised residents in Berea and surrounding areas, including Madison County, to remain vigilant. Citizens are being urged to lock their doors, keep outdoor lights on, and report any suspicious activity immediately.

Trooper Pennington emphasized that the priority is to prevent further harm and bring the suspect into
custody
as quickly as possible. In a direct message to the suspect, he urged him to surrender peacefully to avoid additional violence.

Berea, a city with a population of just over 16,000 people, is located about 40 miles south of Lexington. The shocking nature of the crime has left the small community shaken as law enforcement continues its search.
