Trump-Endorsed Clay Fuller Wins Georgia Runoff to Replace Marjorie Taylor Greene

Republican Clay Fuller is projected to have won Georgia’s runoff election to fill the seat vacated by former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. Fuller, endorsed by former President Donald Trump, defeated Democrat Shawn Harris, keeping the strongly conservative district under Republican control.

The victory bolsters the Republican Party’s narrow 217-214 majority in the House of Representatives. Fuller, a lieutenant colonel in the Georgia Air National Guard and former White House fellow during Trump’s first term, credited Trump’s endorsement as a decisive factor in his win.

Fuller will serve the remainder of Greene’s term, which ends in January, but will immediately need to campaign again for the midterm elections in November if he hopes to retain the seat. Harris has signaled plans to run again, stating on social media: “This wasn’t the result we wanted, but the message is clear — the fight continues. On to November!”

Fuller is closely aligned with Trump’s agenda, particularly on curbing illegal immigration and pursuing mass deportations. Political analysts noted that Trump’s strategy in endorsing Fuller aimed to select a candidate appealing to both the MAGA base and more moderate voters in the district.

Georgia’s 14th congressional district, covering the northwest part of the state from the Atlanta suburbs to the Tennessee border, is mostly rural and heavily Republican-leaning, though it contains pockets of Democratic voters closer to Atlanta and Rome.

The race drew national attention as a measure of Trump’s influence over Republican voters ahead of the 2026 midterms, with the Democratic Party viewing the seat as a potential pick-up. Former presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg held a town hall with Harris in March to boost his campaign.

With Fuller’s victory, Republicans maintain their slim House majority, keeping the party in control as Congress navigates upcoming legislative battles.
