Houston: Four astronauts from NASA’s Artemis II mission have safely returned to Earth after completing a historic journey around the Moon, marking a major milestone in human space exploration.
The crew — Commander Reid Wiseman, pilot Victor Glover, mission specialist Christina Koch, and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen — were welcomed back at an event in Houston, where they were reunited with their families.
Speaking after the mission, Wiseman described the experience as life-changing, calling it “the most special thing” he had ever gone through. The emotional homecoming highlighted the human side of space exploration, as the astronauts embraced their loved ones after spending over a week away from Earth.
The Artemis II mission lasted nine days and took the crew farther from Earth than any humans have ever traveled, orbiting the Moon before safely returning. The journey represents a crucial step in NASA’s broader Artemis program, which aims to establish a sustainable human presence on the Moon and eventually pave the way for missions to Mars.
The successful completion of Artemis II demonstrates advancements in space technology and international collaboration, with Canada also playing a key role in the mission.
As global interest in space exploration continues to grow, the mission has inspired millions worldwide and reaffirmed humanity’s ambition to explore beyond Earth.
