Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday praised Pakistan’s armed forces, diplomatic efforts, and national unity while addressing a “Marka-e-Haq” ceremony in Karachi, saying the country has overcome challenges and continues to stand firm on its sovereignty.
He stated that Pakistan had gone through a period of uncertainty over the past year but emerged stronger due to collective resilience. “Pakistan has endured and prevailed,” he said, adding that the nation continues to rise with determination rooted in its history of struggle and sacrifice.
Highlighting unity across the country, Bilawal said people from all regions — from the northern mountains to the ساحل of the Arabian Sea — stood together during difficult times. He credited this unity, along with the professionalism of the armed forces, for safeguarding the country.
“The armed forces defended the country with courage, discipline and dignity,” he said, while also acknowledging the role of diplomats in presenting Pakistan’s position effectively on the global stage.
Bilawal reiterated that Pakistan prefers peace but will not compromise on its defence or sovereignty. He also cautioned against what he described as attempts by external elements to distort historical facts.
Speaking at the same event, Murad Ali Shah said Pakistan had responded swiftly during past tensions, claiming that the country’s defence capabilities proved effective in countering threats. He also dismissed claims made by Indian media during the crisis, stating that Pakistan’s key installations remained secure.
Sharjeel Inam Memon termed the occasion a symbol of national pride, saying it reflected unity and strength. He praised the armed forces for their response during the conflict and highlighted the contributions of past leadership in strengthening Pakistan’s defence capabilities.
The ceremony also referenced the escalation between Pakistan and India in 2025, which began after an attack in Pahalgam. Tensions intensified with military actions from both sides before a ceasefire was eventually announced on May 10, 2025, following diplomatic efforts involving Donald Trump.
Speakers at the event emphasised that while Pakistan remains committed to peace, it will continue to prioritise national security and unity in the face of challenges.
