Ishaq Dar Says Pakistani, Iranian Nationals From Seized US Vessels Successfully Repatriated

Ishaq Dar Announces Successful Repatriation of Pakistani and Iranian Nationals From Seized Vessels

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced on Friday that Pakistan had successfully facilitated the repatriation of 11 Pakistani and 20 Iranian nationals who were aboard vessels seized by United States authorities in international waters.

The operation was carried out through diplomatic coordination involving several countries, including Singapore and Thailand.

In a statement shared on X, Dar confirmed that all individuals were in good health and high spirits. He reiterated that the welfare and safety of Pakistanis abroad, especially those facing difficult circumstances, remained the government’s top priority.

According to Dar, the repatriated individuals travelled from Singapore to Bangkok before boarding a flight to Islamabad, which was expected to arrive later on Friday night.

He added that the Iranian nationals would subsequently be assisted in returning safely to Iran.

The deputy prime minister thanked Vivian Balakrishnan and the Singaporean government for their support and cooperation throughout the repatriation process.

Dar also expressed gratitude to Abbas Araghchi for entrusting Pakistan with facilitating the return of Iranian citizens.

He further acknowledged the role of the United States government for maintaining close coordination that helped ensure the safe and smooth return of the individuals involved.

The government of Thailand was also thanked for facilitating transit arrangements through Bangkok at Pakistan’s request.

Dar praised officials from Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Ministry of Interior, and diplomatic missions in Singapore and Thailand for ensuring timely coordination and the successful completion of the operation.

The vessels had reportedly been seized by US authorities amid heightened tensions in the region following the enforcement of a blockade near Iranian ports and ongoing disputes linked to the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier this month, Dar stated that Islamabad was maintaining close diplomatic contact with Washington and other stakeholders to secure the safety and return of Pakistani seafarers stranded aboard the seized vessels.

He had also noted that Iranian crew members were among those affected, prompting broader regional diplomatic engagement.
