Trump Says Iran War ‘Near End,’ Vows Intensified Strikes in Final Weeks

Trump Signals Endgame in Iran War While Warning of Final Strikes

U.S. President Donald Trump said the ongoing war with Iran is nearing its conclusion, but warned that the coming weeks would see some of the most intense military action yet.

In a televised address from the White House on Wednesday, Trump told Americans that the conflict—initially expected to last only days—could now continue for another two to three weeks.

“We are going to finish the job, and we’re going to finish it very fast,” Trump said, reiterating his confidence that U.S. and Israeli forces are close to achieving their military objectives under the campaign known as Operation Epic Fury.

Strikes Continue Despite Talk of End

Even as Trump spoke about winding down the war, Israeli forces continued strikes on Tehran, underscoring the ongoing intensity of the conflict. The war began on February 28 with coordinated U.S.-Israeli attacks targeting Iranian military and government sites, including a strike that killed Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.

Markets React as Oil Prices Surge

Global markets reacted negatively to Trump’s remarks, with oil prices climbing to around $100 per barrel during the speech.

In the United States, fuel costs have also surged. According to AAA, the national average for gasoline reached $4.06 per gallon—crossing the $4 threshold for the first time since the war began. Rising energy costs continue to strain households and businesses, adding to broader economic uncertainty.

Republican Leaders Back Trump’s Strategy

Key Republican figures voiced strong support for Trump’s address and military strategy.

Senator Lindsey Graham described the speech as a “compelling explanation” for confronting Iran, stating that the U.S. is just weeks away from destroying Iran’s missile and nuclear capabilities.

Similarly, Senator Ted Cruz said the operation has brought the United States “on the cusp of ending Iran’s nuclear blackmail,” calling it a critical investment in long-term global security.

Outlook: Short War, High Stakes

Despite Trump’s optimism about a swift conclusion, the continued escalation on the ground and volatile market reactions highlight the uncertainty surrounding the conflict’s final phase.

With intensified strikes expected and energy markets already under pressure, the coming weeks are likely to be decisive—not only for the war’s outcome but also for its global economic impact.
