A violent incident at Foss High School left five people injured on Thursday after a reported stabbing triggered panic on campus. Authorities confirmed that the suspect, believed to be a student at the school, is now in custody.
The attack was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m. local time in Tacoma. According to officials, the situation began as an altercation that escalated into a stabbing involving multiple individuals.
Police spokesperson Officer Shelbie Boyd stated that emergency responders were quickly dispatched after receiving reports of violence on school grounds. Upon arrival, law enforcement secured the area and ensured there was no ongoing threat to students or staff.
Four students and one school security officer were injured in the incident. Emergency services transported all five victims to nearby hospitals. Authorities initially described the students’ conditions as critical, but later confirmed they had stabilised. The security officer and the suspect sustained relatively minor injuries.

Officials have not yet clarified the exact nature of the injuries, noting that it remains unclear how many victims were directly stabbed versus those who may have suffered other wounds during the altercation.
The suspect, whose identity has not been publicly released, was taken into custody at the scene. Police have not yet disclosed a possible motive behind the attack, and the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities emphasised that the school campus is now secure, and there is no further threat to the public. Law enforcement agencies continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
