8 TTP Militants Killed in North Waziristan Border Operation: ISPR

Pakistan’s security forces killed eight militants during an intelligence-based operation along the Pak-Afghan border in North Waziristan, the military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

According to the ISPR, troops detected the movement of a group of militants, referred to as “khwarij,” and engaged them in a precise and coordinated operation on Wednesday. All eight militants were killed, and a cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the site.

The military said the militants were affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which Pakistan has repeatedly accused of carrying out cross-border attacks.

Security forces have launched follow-up sanitisation operations in the area to eliminate any remaining threats and ensure the region is cleared of militant presence.

The ISPR also reiterated concerns over border security, stating that the incident reflects the failure of Afghan authorities to prevent militants from using their territory to launch attacks inside Pakistan. It urged the Afghan Taliban administration to take effective measures against such elements.

President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces for their “timely and effective action,” calling their role in defending the country a source of pride. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the troops for foiling the infiltration attempt.

The operation is part of Pakistan’s ongoing counter-terrorism efforts under “Azm-e-Istehkam” and Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, aimed at eliminating militant threats and strengthening border security.
