Iran is reviewing a new American proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, while Donald Trump said the war would be “over quickly” if Tehran accepts the terms.
According to reports, the White House believes it may be close to a 14-point memorandum of understanding that could lay the groundwork for broader nuclear negotiations between the two sides.
Trump said during a political event that:
“Most people understand” the US goal is to stop Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
He also claimed recent talks with Iran had been “very good”.
📄 What’s Reportedly in the US Proposal?
According to reports from Axios and Reuters, the draft framework reportedly includes:
- Suspension of Iranian uranium enrichment
- Gradual lifting of sanctions
- Restoration of shipping access through the Strait of Hormuz
- Broader nuclear negotiations later
However, many provisions would reportedly only take effect after a final agreement.
Iran has not publicly confirmed the details.
🇮🇷 Iran’s Response
Iranian officials reacted cautiously.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Tehran was still reviewing the proposal and would communicate its response through Pakistani mediators.
Meanwhile, Iranian parliament official Ebrahim Rezaei dismissed the reported proposal as a “wish list”.
He warned that Iran remained ready to respond militarily if necessary.
🇵🇰 Pakistan’s Mediation Role
Pakistan continues to play a key diplomatic role between Washington and Tehran.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Pakistan was working to turn the current ceasefire into a permanent end to the conflict.
Islamabad has hosted high-level indirect discussions between the two sides in recent weeks.
⚠️ Strait of Hormuz Still Critical
The crisis around the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the biggest global concerns.
The waterway normally carries around:
- 20% of global oil shipments
- Major LNG exports
Iran effectively restricted movement through the strait after US-Israeli attacks earlier this year, while the US imposed counter-blockades on Iranian ports.
Trump recently paused “Project Freedom,” an American naval effort meant to escort stranded commercial vessels through the Gulf.
🇮🇱 Israel’s Position
Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel and the US remain in “full coordination” regarding Iran.
He stressed that key goals include:
- Removing enriched uranium from Iran
- Dismantling Iran’s enrichment capabilities
Israel also carried out new strikes in Beirut targeting alleged Hezbollah commanders, despite an earlier ceasefire arrangement.
🔍 Bottom Line
Diplomatic activity between Iran and the US appears to be intensifying, but major disagreements remain over sanctions, nuclear enrichment and regional security.
While Trump projects optimism about a quick resolution, Tehran’s cautious response suggests negotiations are still far from complete.
