Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu Says Early-Stage Prostate Cancer Treated Successfully

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he has undergone successful treatment for early-stage prostate cancer, according to a statement released alongside his annual medical report.

The 76-year-old leader said a malignant tumor was discovered during a routine medical checkup. He stated that “targeted treatment” was carried out, which successfully removed the condition and left no remaining trace.

According to the medical report, Netanyahu was treated with radiation therapy for early-stage prostate cancer. The report also confirmed that the prime minister is currently in good overall health.

Neither the report nor Netanyahu provided specific details about when the treatment took place.

Netanyahu said he delayed the release of his medical report for two months, claiming the decision was made to prevent Iran from spreading “false propaganda against Israel.”

In March, during heightened regional tensions, false claims circulated on social media and Iranian state media alleging that Netanyahu had died. The Israeli leader later dismissed the rumors by appearing publicly in a video from a café in Jerusalem.

This is not the first time Netanyahu has faced health-related procedures. In 2024, he underwent surgery for a urinary tract infection linked to benign prostate enlargement. In 2023, he was fitted with a pacemaker.

The announcement comes as Israel prepares for national elections expected by October, adding further political attention to the health and leadership of the country’s longest-serving prime minister.
