The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast that hot and humid weather will continue in Karachi over the next few days, though temperatures are expected to remain below 40°C.
According to the advisory:
- Tuesday: 37–39°C (hot and humid)
- Wednesday (May 6): 36–38°C
- Thursday (May 7): 35–37°C
While conditions remain uncomfortable, this marks a slight improvement after the recent extreme heat spike.
Across Sindh, however, “hot to very hot and dry” weather is still expected to persist in most regions.
⚡ Power & Public Measures
A key relief for residents comes from K-Electric, which announced:
- No loadshedding in areas where the “feels-like” temperature reaches 45°C
- Maintenance shutdowns suspended due to heatwave
Officials also warned that illegal electricity connections (kundas) are causing overloading, which can lead to faults and safety hazards.
🌡️ Recent Heatwave Context
- Karachi recently recorded 44.1°C, the highest temperature since 2018
- Around 10 deaths were reported due to extreme heat
- Interestingly, the “feels-like” temperature stayed lower due to reduced humidity
Experts say temperatures should gradually decline as dry winds ease during the week.
🚨 Health & Safety Advisory
The National Disaster Management Authority has placed hospitals on alert and issued heatwave precautions:
- Stay hydrated (drink clean/boiled water)
- Avoid direct sun between 11am – 3pm
- Wear light, loose clothing
- Limit outdoor activity
- Avoid unhygienic food to prevent illness
🔍 Bottom Line
Karachi isn’t out of the heat yet—but the worst may have passed for now. Slightly lower temperatures and reduced humidity offer some relief, though caution remains essential as summer intensifies.
