NDMA Issues Heatwave Alert for Sindh and South Punjab Starting April 11

Karachi / Lahore: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a heatwave alert for several districts in Sindh and southern Punjab, warning of potentially severe temperatures starting April 11.

According to NDMA, the districts most likely to be affected include Dadu, Jacobabad, Larkana, and surrounding areas, along with Jamshoro, Qambar Shahdadkot, Ghotki, Khairpur, Sanghar, Umerkot, and Kashmore. In Balochistan, areas such as Jhal Magsi, Usta Muhammad, and Dera Murad Jamali may also experience elevated temperatures.

In southern Punjab, the alert covers Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan. Authorities have predicted nighttime temperatures to be 3–5°C above normal, while daytime highs could rise 5–7°C higher than average, intensifying the heatwave risk.

NDMA has advised residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak daytime hours, remain hydrated, and take special precautions for children, the elderly, and outdoor labourers.

The authority emphasized that it is actively monitoring weather developments and coordinating with local administrations to provide timely information and mitigation measures. Citizens are encouraged to download and use the NDMA Disaster Alert App for real-time updates on weather conditions, hazards, and safety instructions.

The heatwave warning comes amid rising temperatures across the region, highlighting the need for preparedness and community awareness to prevent heat-related illnesses.
