PM Shehbaz Arrives in Doha After Saudi Visit, Set for Talks with Qatari Emir

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Doha after concluding his official visit to Saudi Arabia, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Thursday.

Upon arrival in the Qatari capital, the premier and his delegation were received by Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. A ceremonial welcome was also accorded, with a contingent of the Qatari Armed Forces present at the airport. The PMO noted that both the airport and parts of the city were decorated with Pakistani flags to mark the visit.

During his stay in Doha, the prime minister is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar. The two leaders are expected to discuss Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to promote regional and global peace, alongside strengthening bilateral ties.

The Doha visit follows the conclusion of PM Shehbaz’s engagements in Saudi Arabia, where he undertook a series of high-level meetings. The prime minister was received in Madina by Governor Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and later visited the Prophet’s Mosque, offering prayers for the country’s progress and global peace.

Earlier, in Jeddah, PM Shehbaz held a key meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also in attendance. The discussions focused on strengthening Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relations and addressing regional developments.

The prime minister’s broader regional tour, which includes stops in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkiye, aims to enhance diplomatic coordination and address evolving geopolitical challenges. In Turkiye, he is expected to participate in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, where global leaders will deliberate on pressing international issues.

The visit comes at a critical time as tensions in the Middle East remain high, particularly amid the ongoing US-Iran crisis. Pakistan has been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to facilitate dialogue and promote de-escalation in the region.

Officials say the prime minister’s engagements in the Gulf are part of Islamabad’s broader strategy to strengthen partnerships while advocating for peace and stability across the region.
