New York: NBC’s Savannah Guthrie returned to the Today show on Monday, her first appearance in the studio since January 30, just days before her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing.
Guthrie’s co-anchors warmly welcomed her back, noting that fans had gathered outside the studio in New York with signs of support. “I’m really feeling the love,” Guthrie said. NBC meteorologist Al Roker also expressed his support before giving the day’s weather.
Investigators believe Nancy Guthrie, last seen on January 31 near Tucson, Arizona, may have been taken against her will. No suspect or motive has yet been publicly disclosed. The family previously announced a $1 million reward for information leading to her return.
Despite the personal turmoil, Guthrie resumed her hosting duties, reporting on topics including NASA’s Artemis moon mission and the NCAA men’s basketball tournament finals. She had previously stepped away from anchoring, including NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage, citing the need to focus on her family.
Earlier, Guthrie reaffirmed her Christian faith in an Easter Sunday message from Good Shepherd New York, saying: “I still believe. And so I say with conviction, ‘Happy Easter.’”

Speaking last month about returning to work, Guthrie said, “I can’t not come back. This is my family,” while acknowledging the emotional strain and the possibility that her own public profile may have contributed to her mother’s disappearance.
Nancy Guthrie vanished without her medications after being dropped off at her home by relatives on January 31. She missed a planned virtual Sunday service the following morning.
